  • What is a one-day redesign?

Redesign is the process of designing rooms using existing furnishings. Redesign specialists, like myself, make the most of what our clients already own, making their existing furnishings look fantastic in a pulled-together, cohesive arrangement. We utilize design principles such as color, texture, theme, harmony, balance and scale, to give our clients beautiful, comfortable rooms that reflect their taste and lifestyle.

You are probably thinking — existing furnishings only? Does this really work? Just ask one of my redesign clients how great their rooms look after some expert arranging!

Does redesign work with any style of furnishings?

Yes! That’s the beauty of it — I have worked with all styles and ages of furnishings, with amazing results each time.

    Do you offer holiday redesigns?

You bet! If you don’t have time, or are just looking for a creative new look for your holiday décor, let us come and work our holiday magic. All you have to do is bring your boxes down from the attic or garage. We will use what you already own to create a beautiful holiday home that your friends and family will ooh and aah over. If you prefer to decorate your own Christmas tree, it’s no problem. We’ll leave that decision up to you. While our specialty is interior décor, we will include your front porch if you like!

How do I know if I am a good candidate for redesign?

If you fit any of these categories, you are a GREAT client for redesign:

    • You have inherited furniture and must make it work with your existing things .
    • You have inherited furniture and must make it work with your existing things .
    • You have had their furniture in the same arrangement for years and who want a new look.
    • You have had their furniture in the same arrangement for years and who want a new look.
    • You have downsized or moved to a new home.

    What are Hardwoods?

Hardwoods are woods that come from deciduous trees and have a closed grain. Types of hardwoods used for furniture construction are walnut, oak, mahogany, teak, maple, and cherry.

Most hardwoods are very durable and heavy, and pieces of furniture made from these woods hold up for many years under normal use.

While oak and maple hardwoods are considered somewhat informal, mahogany, teak, cherry and walnut are used in more traditional or formal interiors.

Need Color Tips - Have Any?

To make a square room look less boxy, do one wall in a deeper tone than the other thee walls.

To make a narrow room look less long, paint the narrow walls lighter tan the wider walls.

If you want to make a short hallway or passage look longer, paint the walls a deep tone and keep the floor and ceiling light.

The most frequent color mistake is a lack of cohesion - not enough dominance of a particular mood or color scheme.

Trendy colors are the fastest way to add a fresh look to your surroundings.  However, it is best to use trend colors as refreshers, knowing that you may grow tired of them quickly.

A color that seems too loud can be quieted with an adjacent hue.

If you are in doubt abut choosing a paint color, it's always best to go a bit lighter than your initial choice.  And do a "color sampling" first.

Don't be afraid of bold colors.  If you are drawn to it or love it, use it - but judiciously - on a pillow, on a bookcase or in a pattern.  A color used in accents can have s much punch as the same color used in vast swaths.

Size of a room is relative.  You don't always need to make a small room feel larger or vice versa.  Know what you want from the room.
